Chartreuse at 15 E. Kirby in Detroit provides a great dining experience. The menu is small but full of great choices. Mark had cap steak and I chose whitefish. Cap steak is a thin sirloin cut that is very tender. It was cooked perfectly and served with mushrooms, roasted carrots, grilled beets and a wild ramp Boursin. Ramps have a garlic and onion flavor and when pureed with Boursin makes a smooth and creamy sauce.
My fish was nicely browned and moist and served on a bed of cous cous flavored with pesto. Mark and I shared a sweet potato dish with smoky ham and jalapeños. The plate was spread with a green onion sauce and a red pepper sauce called muhammara. The sauces on all of our dishes were unusual and very tasty. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
