O.W.L. is a 24-hour diner located at 27032 Woodward in Royal Oak, serving breakfast and lunch/dinner items. What the acronym stands for is something the owners are not talking about. I guess it is a secret that adds a little intrigue to the experience. The restaurant is billed as a Mexican-American restaurant, but don't expect to see the regular Mexican fare. I tried the avocado toast, which I thought was delicious.

The Sesame bread was covered with an avocado spread and topped with thinly sliced carrots, radishes, sprinkled with cilantro and topped with a hard boiled egg. The combination makes a hearty breakfast treat. Mark opted for chicken wings with macha, a spicy sauce. The wings were very meaty, but not spicy enough for Mark. We also tried the grilled chicken sandwich with pickles, lettuce, and tomato. There is also a cheesy white sauce on the sandwich. This was also very good. The diner seems to have a pretty steady stream of customers and it serves only about 20 to 30 people at a time. There is some outside seating as well.
