This upscale soul food restaurant is located at 1431 Times Square in downtown Detroit. Mark and I enjoyed our recent dinner there. He started his meal with the seafood chowder, which was filled with chunks of shrimp, lobster, crab, mussels, potatoes and tomatoes. It was hearty and delicious and the cornbread served with it was warm and sweet. For my entree, I chose the Savannahblue fried chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the chicken breast was breaded but skinless. The breading was crispy and the chicken was juicy. I dipped the chicken in the maple pecan sauce on the dish for an extra sweet bite. The dish included collard greens and a sweet potato puree. The greens were tender and laced through the puree was a cinnamon, nut, and brown sugar crunch. Mark was very pleased with his shrimp and grits. The Parmesan grits, creamy but not mushy, were piled in the center of the plate. The cajun flavored shrimp were perfectly cooked. The shrimp and the grits were surrounded by a lush and spicy andouille gravy, which included sausage and mushrooms. Mark and I enjoyed every part of the meal and the service was great. We will definitely return.
