Soops 'n Sanz Review

Dining at family-owned and -operated Soops 'n Sanz is a very pleasant experience. It has great food and a friendly atmosphere. Mark, my husband, has been talking about the great soups there for a while, so I finally accompanied him there to have a taste for myself.

I had a cup of lemon rice soup and a half of a chicken salad sandwich and had to agree with him. It was delicious. The soup was not thick, stand up your spoon in it, kind that you get at most coney islands. It was brothy with a gentle lemon flavor and, of course, chicken and rice. My sandwich was served on warm French bread, which was very soft. The white meat chicken was dressed with just the right amount of mayonnaise. Mixed in the salad was granola for a slight crunch, dried cranberries, minced onion, celery, and topped with lettuce. Mark had a cup of clam chowder and a club sandwich. Even the chowder wasn't overly thick, which many chowders are. It had a nice clam flavor with chunks of clam, potato, carrots, and celery. Mark also enjoys their Shrimp Island soup. His club was not a triple decker. It was served on the same warm French bread and was filled with ham, turkey, bacon, provolone cheese. It was topped with tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise. The combination of flavors was tasty, and Mark didn't miss the extra slice of bread. We ended our meal sharing the delicious bread pudding. I would definitely go back and wouldn't mind if my husband brought home some of that tasty soup on his next trip there. The restaurant is located at 2617 Dixie Highway in Waterford.
