My friends, Karole Davies and Becky Sorensen, and I enjoyed lunch at Streetside Seafood on Pierce in Birmingham. Karole and Becky both believe that Streetside has the best fish tacos they have ever eaten, and a fantastic chilled cucumber and crab soup. I am allergic to crab, so our waitress was kind enough to bring me a taste without the crab, which was light, creamy, refreshing, and delicious. As for the fish taco, I have to admit that I was a little concerned about ordering it since I am not a fan of swordfish. However, I tried a bite of one of the tacos, and it was very tasty. The blackened swordfish came in a bite-sized piece (not the thick slice that I imagined); the slaw was sweet and crunchy, and the black bean puree added a smokey taste. And, of course, every good taco should be topped with a nice sharp cheese. I agree with my friends that this taco dish and the cucumber soup make lunch at Streetside extremely worthwhile. I ordered the blackened trout sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. This was a great lunch choice too. Streetside is now on my list of favorite lunch spots.
