McConnell's Fine Ice Cream - review

A visit to McConnell's ice cream place renewed my desire for an ice cream making machine. Rachel, Mark and I experienced some fantastic ice cream

flavors at this Los Angeles area staple, which has been around since 1949.

If I had an ice cream machine, the first thing I would do would be to try to reproduce the Eureka Lemon and Marionberry ice cream I had at McConell's in Los Feliz on Hollywood Boulevard. It was incredible. The sweet and tart berries nestled in a creamy, luscious vanilla lemon made a heavenly bite. Mark had a Vanilla Bean ice cream that was clearly made with the scrapings from a fresh bean, and even though it wasn't quite as unusual as what Rachel and I chose, it was excellent. Rachel had two scoops, Salted Caramel Banana/Sea Salt Cream and Peanut Butter Cup. The banana in the first scoop was a bold flavor, and the salted caramel swirled throughout the scoop added the perfect sweet note. The second scoop was sea salt cream and peanut butter cup. Maybe it is the grass-fed cream and milk that they use that makes the ice cream so smooth and silky. The sea salt enhanced the flavor and the peanut butter laced through it that made this scoop absolutely decadent.

I can't aptly describe the incredible McConnell's ice cream, but I am sure I will have ice cream cones dancing in my head for weeks to come.
